Abstract

Abstract art is art that does not represent an accurate depiction of visual reality, communicating instead through lines, shapes, colors, forms and gestural marks. Abstract artists use a variety of techniques to create their work, mixing traditional means with more experimental ideas.

Abstract (Latin) meaning “pulled away”, detached, and the basic idea of something detached from physical, or concrete, reality. It is frequently used of ideas, meaning that they don’t have a clear applicability to real life, meaning that it doesn’t pictorially represent reality.

Modern

Modern art is the creative world s response to the rationalist practices and perspectives of the new lives and ideas provided by the technological advances of the industrial age that caused contemporary society to manifest itself in new ways compared to the past. The term is usually associated with art in which the traditions of the past have been thrown aside in a spirit of experimentation. Modernism evolved as artists sought new ways to respond to and represent their changing world. Artists began to critically examine and explore the premises of art and artistic media. Modernism refers to artist’s self-conscious breaking with the past and their search for new forms of expressionism.

Practitioners of each new style were determined to develop a visual language that was both original and representative of the times.

Surreal

Surrealism aims to revolutionize human experience. It balances a rational vision of life with one that asserts the power of the unconscious and dreams. The movements artists find magic and strange beauty in the unexpected and the uncanny, the disregarded and unconventional.

Surrealism, movement in visual art and literature flourishing in Europe between world Wars II and I. Surrealisms emphasis was not on negation but on positive expression. With its emphasis on content with free form Surrealism provided a major alternative to the contemporary, highly formalistic.

CUBIST movement was largely responsible for perpetuating in modern painting the traditional emphasis on content. The work of major Surrealist painters is too diverse to be summarized categorically. Each artist sought his or her own means of self- exploration.

Avant Garde

The Avant Garde movement emergent in the late 19th century as a radical artistic and cultural movement challenging traditional norms. It pushed boundaries, experimenting with new forms, techniques and ideas often defying conventional artistic standards. Avant Garde artists aimed to provide and engage audiences, questioning established notions of art, society, and politics. Their works encompasses various disciplines, including visual arts, literature, music, theater, and film, and continue to influence and inspire artists today

Portraiture

Portrait art can be found in various forms, including paintings, drawing, sculptures, photographs, and digital art. Artists approach portraiture in different ways, employing different styles, techniques and interpretations. Some portrays strive for a realistic and detailed depiction, aiming to capture every feature and nuance of the subject. Many artists don’t want to create portraiture because of its complications. Others may take a more interpretive or expressive approach, emphasizing the subject’s emotions personality or symbolic representation.

Naturalism vs Realism Art

It is a style of art, which uses realistic depictions of the Human figure, Nature and Events in order to portray reality as accurately as possible. Realism is also known as naturalism or eristic realism, and it can take many forms, such as Landscape painting, Portraiture or Still Life.

Realism and Naturalism are two separate but closely linked literally movements that began in the 19th Century; Realism depicts characters and settings, as they would actually have existed, while naturalism concentrates on the biological social and economic aspects. Both seek to represent real life.
