Modern
Modern art is the creative world s response to the rationalist practices and perspectives of the new lives and ideas provided by the technological advances of the industrial age that caused contemporary society to manifest itself in new ways compared to the past. The term is usually associated with art in which the traditions of the past have been thrown aside in a spirit of experimentation. Modernism evolved as artists sought new ways to respond to and represent their changing world. Artists began to critically examine and explore the premises of art and artistic media. Modernism refers to artist’s self-conscious breaking with the past and their search for new forms of expressionism.
Practitioners of each new style were determined to develop a visual language that was both original and representative of the times.
